Two residents tell us how they like to spend the perfect Sunday

By Lucinda Knight

I’m passionate about Chinese antiques and these sorts of shops are always open on a Sunday. If I’m not browsing in Macau, I leave my apartment, which is located near the beautiful São Lourenço (San Lorenzo) church, and head off in my car to Coloane or Taipa. afterwards, I have midday brunch with friends. I usually eat dim sum in Lua Azul, which is in the Macau Tower.

I walk it off by going to my favourite spot, which is around Sai Van Lake on the Macau Peninsula. Sometimes, I pick up an unwanted pet to keep me company from the charity Anima. Then, it’s on to dinner at Henry’s Galley. I always eat there come what may, although I vary what I eat. I particularly recommend their Macau sole or, if you’re not a meat-eater, their vegetarian claypot curry. Then, it’s early to bed to prepare for an early rise in order to get to Hong Kong and face the coming week.

Property agent Suzanne Watkins is Macau-based during the weekends.

I start the day by drinking a glass of soya milk and then go for yum cha at either the hotel that I work at or Kwun Hoi Heen. I strongly recommend Kwun Hoi Heen’s king prawn dumplings and crab meat and scallop porridge, which is great value. alternatively, I might go for a Western-style lunch at the San Diego restaurant in Coloane. Then, I often drive to the Red Market to buy flowers.

Sunday is one of my few chances to shop so I visit export outlets and make sure I’ve bought plenty of brand labels before the shops close at 7pm. I also shop around the Sun Tat Shing little mall in White Horse Lane. Finally, its dinner for two at Fernando’s near the beach at Hác Sá. It’s the perfect romantic spot.
